The wonders of Sichuan, China

Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Shenxianchi
Sichuan Province, China
August 2022
Travelling in Sichuan Province in China during the summer of 2022.  With Chengdu going into lockdown, the wonderful sights of the national parks were explorable without the usual crowds of tourists.

The multicoloured pools of Huanglong nestled between the trees high in the mountains.
Nuorilang waterfall where streams of water fall from the lakes further up the valley and one of the iconic symbols of Jiuzhaigou.
The crystal blue waters flowing down the valley are beautiful, but frame the remnants of the destruction of the region’s 2017 earthquake.
Travelling during COVID meant being able to appreciate nature without the chaos of thousands of other tourists, something magical and rare in today’s world.
A peaceful alternative to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong, Shenxianchi is gorgeous and a smaller scale blend of the two.  Less tourists travel to appreciate its beauty as it can only be reached by a two hour drive over the mountains.
But that drive has some beautiful sights of its own including the 28 turns of the road up to mountain.
A lot of people associate China with the busy major cities full of millions of people, the neon lights and skyscrapers.  But the country is filled with unique natural wonders you’ll not find anywhere else on earth.
